Ten of the South Coast’s most loved eateries will plate up their inspiring backstories in a new addition to StoryFest 2025 throughout June.
Appropriately named ‘Story on a Plate’, the initiative is a culinary experience that brings the age-old connection between story and food to life by giving diners the chance to discover the rich narratives behind dishes at Milk HAUS, Woodstock Chocolate Co., Rick Stein at Bannisters, Cupitt’s Estate, Gwylo, Small Town Provisions, Lagom Bakery, Beurre Noisette, Pilgrims and Native Cafe.
Each location will offer a StoryFest Special on their menus throughout June, complete with take-home story cards and a video featuring the dish’s creator.
Diners will learn why that dish is so close to the hearts of those who made it – and surprises are guaranteed. A desire to buy a farm, a trip to Italy, an inventive New Years Eve … Story on a Plate is bursting with untold tales.
The force behind the StoryFest 2025 food program, Anneka Manning, developed the idea inspired by the area’s talented food creators.
‘The Milton, Ulladulla, Mollymook area is known for its fabulous food,’ she said. ‘And so many of the dishes we love have wonderful stories behind them that diners never get to hear. Story on a Plate will start to change that.
‘We hope it will encourage locals and visitors to set off on a gastronomic journey that will build genuine connection between them and the wonderful food venues they visit.’
