Care, kindness and respect are at the heart of the local communities in the Shoalhaven area in NSW according to Governor General Her Excellency Sam Mostyn.
Visiting the region this week, the Governor-General witnessed deep acts of care for country, care for others through service and care for community.

At the Booderee Botanic Gardens and Botanic National Park, Horticulture Rangers Jordan Roberts, AJ Van Oploo, Brandon Green, showed the Governor-General how millennia old land management practices are informing the park’s vibrant visitor experience.
At the RFS Shoalhaven HQ, the Governor-General witnessed the diverse faces of volunteering: meeting Anna who started with the RFS last January, John and Gabrielle from the Kioloa brigade, which this year celebrated its 90th anniversary, and many others.

At the St George’s Basin Community and Men’s Shed the Governor-General met an extraordinary group of people who offer friendship, connection and care to each other and the broader community.

And at the Jervis Bay Police Station, the Governor-General unveiled a plaque recognising the service of previous station members and thanked the current serving members for their work in the community.
Her Excellency also attended the march out of the latest graduation from the New Entry Officers’ Course 74 at HMAS Creswell.
