New life members for Gerringong Surf Life Saving

Gerringong Surf Lifesaving Club (SLSC) has honoured six people with life memberships
due to their outstanding contribution to the club and the community.

The new life members are:


Andy Depree: Long serving patrol member and captain, chief training and radio officer,
and proficiency tests manager. Board and surf ski competitor, member of the Board of
Lifesavers and South Coast Branch Volunteer of the Year (2022)


Gary George: Club president who has played key leadership roles in the development
and construction of the new clubhouse. An active lifesaver for more than a decade, has
led the cadet program, is a Coolangatta Gold competitor and won numerous awards.

Mitchell Payne: Vice-president and former president and club captain. More than 20
years as patrol member, patrol captain and surfboat competitor. Junior Activities and
Captain Christie coordinator. Club licensee.

Richard Payne: Vice-president and former president who was also integral to the
development and construction of the new clubhouse. An active patroller since 1995
and has competed in the Coolangatta Gold and surfboats to national level.
Competitions co-ordinator and South Coast region surf sports director.


Wendy Quinn: Patrol member for more than 20 years and Patrol Person of the Year
winner. Regularly tops the number of patrol hours served for the club and always
volunteers to assist in other club activities. Helps co-ordinate events and has been a
key driver of getting more females involved in surf lifesaving. Also a club grievance
contact officer.

Shane Wicks: Former club captain, long serving patrol member and captain, and junior
activities co-ordinator. Former beach events and IRB competitor and junior activities
co-ordinator. Club training and emergency services oƯicer. South Coast Branch Duty
officer, delegate and current Branch president.
