Members and volunteers of North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels have selected their Board
and elected a new Chairperson to lead the organisation, as the demand for meals and social
services in the local community continues to grow.
Newly elected Chair Luke Sikora said he was honoured to have been unanimously elected as
the organisation’s new chairperson and will focus on growing Meals on Wheel’s social program
‘Meals Together’, and support the increasing demand for affordable, nutritious meals for
seniors across the Shoalhaven.
“Over the past year our organisation has experienced significant growth, with increasing
demand on our affordable meals and important social support programs,” Mr Sikora said.
“In the past 12 months alone, we have experienced a 37 per cent increase in clients, and
growing demand on our social support program ‘Meals Together’, which aims to combat social
isolation of seniors in our community and has seen over 300 locals participate, well above
what was originally anticipated,” he said.
“We are so grateful for the support of our volunteers, who are local residents, and ensure we
are able to do what it is that we do best, offer affordable, nutritious meals, delivered for free to
our local community, and support local seniors when they need it.”
The new Board is comprised of experienced directors and industry professionals, ensuring
North Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels has the expertise to manage ongoing challenges and
growing demand.
