Neighbourhood Centre Week, happening across Australia in the second full week of May each year, is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the role of over 1,000 Neighbourhood and Community Houses and Centres.
This year it will be celebrated from 12 to 18 May and the theme is ‘Ripples of Change’.
Shoalhaven Neighbourhood Services is pleased to offer support to the community through the operation of two Neighbourhood Centres which are located in Nowra at 41 Worrigee St and East Nowra at 2/80 Park Rd.
To celebrate the week an Open Day is being held at the East Nowra Neighbourhood Centre on Wednesday 14th May from 10.30am- 1.00pm.
The Open Day is a chance for you to have morning tea, a tour of the centre and find out more about what Neighbourhood Centres offer.
Every action, no matter how small, has the power to create a ripple effect, spreading kindness, sparking ideas, and strengthening communities.
At Neighbourhood and Community Houses and Centres (NCHCs) across Australia, it happens every day!
A friendly smile, a shared story, a new skill, these small moments add up to something big, sending waves of meaningful change that extends far beyond our local neighbourhoods.
From community projects to everyday conversations, these ripples of change build momentum, shaping stronger, more connected communities.
Whether it’s volunteering, learning something new, or simply reaching out to someone in need, every action helps build a stronger, more connected community.
Some of the current programs and activities that are available for you to be a part of are our Playgroup, Grandparents and Grandchildren program, Reading with bubs story time program, Womens Cuppa and chat group, Busy Bears Sewing Group and a vast range of self help and support groups.
