Councils program of community surveys and ratepayer representations to Councillors and staff demonstrate that the issues of most concern to our residents is the conditions of Shoalhaven City Roads.
Over the past 8 years our road system has been severely neglected by the current Greens/Labor block on Council.
During this period only a very small amount of Council funds have been spent on our road system where council had contractors to fix the road system at exorbitant costs to the Shoalhaven community only to go back time and time again to fix the road again.
The Shoalhaven Independents campaigned strongly during the last election on this issue, but their efforts were blocked by the Greens/Labor Council, where they preferred to spend ratepayer funds on Green/Labor agendas rather than concentrating on basic infrastructure of roads.
Patricia White and her Shoalhaven Independents team have a plan to fix the Council’s road network.
With Patricia’s experience on South-Eastern Australia Transport (SEATS) working with 30 Councils and Roads Industry Experts securing and delivering over $4 billion dollars in road infrastructure; places her in an excellent position with her team to start fixing our roads.
In the first 100 days of being elected Patricia White and her team will establish a special “Road Maintenance and Repair Fund” to fund all construction and repairs to our road systems.
This fund will be separate to the General Fund and will receive its funding from
government grants, cost efficiencies and proper General Fund allocations from your rates.
These funds will be “restricted” and will only be used for roads.
The will also engage with an experienced Chief Roads Engineer to take charge of all road construction, with oversight on planning, construction and repairs to the road system.
Responsibility and accountability to ensure roads are fixed properly in a timely and permanent manner that is transparent and communicated to residents and communities weekly.
The patrcia White led Independents say they’ll prepare and collate a Roads Condition Strategy to determine planning and how to fix our roads to ensure that all roads receive appropriate priority.
Not only will this provide Council with a forward vision of roadworks programs, but it will also give ratepayers a level of confidence knowing that their local roads have undergone a condition assessment that will allow their road to be maintained at an acceptable level.
the Independents said they will ensure there is an ongoing maintenance program in place and delivered on time on budget to ensure that the roads do not fall into disrepair again.
