EPA Gives Council Go Ahead to Remove Contaminated Crushed Concrete
The Environmental Protection Authority has given Wingecarribee Council the go ahead to clean up crushed concrete which was contaminated with asbestos at the Moss Vale Resource Recovery Centre.
Clean up works will start on Monday by a specialist licensed contractor and be overseen by an Industrial Hygienist.
It comes after a small amount of asbestos was found after routine Laboratory testing was carried out.
The work will involve machinery dissecting the aggregate into smaller quantities of 50 cubic metres for processing and testing.
Any of the smaller loads found to contain traces of asbestos will be sent to a licensed facility and cleared loads will be re - used on site.
