Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor says the Government has high expectations on social media groups such as Facebook to combat the rise in online bullying.
There are growing concerns about Facebook's ability to respond to offensive content.
Over the past 12 months, there's been a 63 percent cent increase in the number of complaints about cyberbullying.
Mr. Taylor who's the new Minister for Law Enforcement and Cybersecurity has told the Daily Telegraph that companies like Facebook and Twitter are at the coalface and must be strong guardians of both privacy and safety.
Senior Police have also raised concerns about the same issue.
So far Facebook has not disclosed the number of local staff it employs to manage content.
