The latest Bureau of Crime Statistics show a significant drop in crime across major categories in the Wingecarribee over the past 12 months.

Stealing from person is down 50 per cent, steal from dwelling 47 per cent, steal from retail stores 41 per cent, steal from motor vehicles down 32 per cent and break and enter 28 per cent.

Hume Police District Commander, Superintendent Chris Schilt insists alot of this can be put down to some excellent work by Police and the ongoing support from the local community.

He says whilst the figures relating to property crime were pleasing the Southern Highlands police will remain diligent in reducing crime and promoting a safer community.
