Mining Industry's contribution to economy

Figures from the NSW Minerals Council show mining companies directly injected $10.4 billion dollars into the NSW economy throughout the 2016/17 financial year.

That included $2.9 billion dollars to almost 23,000 full time employees, $5.9 billion on goods and services purchased from businesses and $1.7 billion dollars in taxes to the State Government.

The NSW Hunter region received more than 43 per cent of this.

Hume Coal Spokesperson Ben Fitzsimmons expects the Southern Highlands to get its fair share, if its mining proposal is approved.
