Pie competition judging underway

Judging for the NSW/ACT best pie competition starts at the Bong Bong Racecourse today.

The comp is all part of pie time and an expert judging panel has been formed including Ron Taylor from the Baking Association of Australia, representatives from the CWA and Peter Neubeck from Becks Pies in Bathurst.

They'll be judging a variety of categories include red meat, white meat, sweet, savoury and apprentice to name a few.

Mr. Neubeck says there's always plenty to consider including the eye appeal, how it's formed in the tin, the glaze, the pastry and how it tastes.
