A new project is now underway in an effort to protect The Fitzroy Falls Spiny Crayfish which lives on a 12 kilometre stretch of creek in the Southern Highlands.
The project is a joint initiative between South East Local Land Services, the Department of Primary Industries Fisheries, and the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
It will involve engaging with local landholders to eradicate carp, provide more vegetation to hold the banks together, aswell as off stream water so cattle don't churn the creek.
Local Lands Services Officer Felicity Sturgiss says they also want to hear local feedback.
