Beware of the Elm Leaf Beetle

They may seem harmless enough, but the Elm Leef beetle is causing problems for our local Elm Trees.

Wingecarribee Council is rolling out a pest management program to manage the insect.

The beetle which originates from Europe was first discovered in Victoria back in 1989 and has since made its way interstate.

Manager of Open Spaces Greg Bray says his team have been injecting Elm Trees with pesticide to control the insect.

They can eventually die if not treated properly.
