Station Street opponents won't go away

Opponents of the Station Street project have attended a park gathering in Burradoo in another attempt to try and stop the project from going ahead.

The meeting was organised by the Friends of Bowral who want the stage 2 option which runs down along the old Telstra site and then deviates around where Pro Finish was.

This is despite Infrastructure NSW carrying out a full review of the project and determining that Wingecarribee Council is going about it the right way.

Mayor Duncan Gair says council's traffic engineers have done computer modelling on stage 2 and have found it wouldn't solve traffic congestion in Station Street.

One Nation Candidate for Wollondilly Charlie Fenton was also on hand for the gathering and believes upgrading South Road is a better option.

He says this would reduce the amount of cars coming through Bowral and Mittagong.
