Berrima DA's approved

Last night's Wingecarribee council meeting was overshadowed by a verbal accusation directed at council staff by someone from the public.

The person accused staff of ' doing a deal '.

The incident took place while Councillors were discussing the consolidation of two lots in Odessa and Nathan Streets in Berrima into three dwellings.

With Councillors Graham McLaughlin and Gary Turland absent and Councillor Scandrett leaving the room, the vote was tied at three all.

Mayor Duncan Gair used his casting vote to approve the DA.

He's justified his decision, by saying the matter had been endorsed by the NSW Planning Department and had majority support at previous council meetings.

In the meantime the Mayor says any unfair accusations against staff won't be tolerated and expects there'll be further ramifications from the incident.
