Opening prayer item deferred

A notice of motion to include more religious faiths in the opening prayer at Wingecarribee council meetings has been deferred.

Given Councillors Graham McLaughlin and Gary Turland were away at last night's meeting, Councillor Whipper told the chamber he'd prefer to wait till they returned to discuss the matter further.

At the moment only a Reverend from the Anglican Church is invited to say the prayer.

Councillor Whipper is hoping to make it more inclusive, by welcoming other local leaders on alternate dates from the Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Bahai faiths.
