The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds across the Coast and Highlands.
Winds speeds averaging 60 to 70 km/h are forecast with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h.
The conditions are being caused by a cold front crossing southern New South Wales and a second front is expected to cross the state overnight Friday into Saturday morning.
There could be a chance of snow in the western parts of the Highlands.
Meantime residents are being advised to tidy up any loose items around the house and move their cars away from trees.
