A fitting tribute at Wingello

wingello honour board

Residents in Wingello will be commemorating those who served in World War Two by erecting an honour board in the Institute Hall.

The project was instigated by Keith and Wendy Garbutt who did much of the research.

Their family has 12 relatives listed on the board.

The 107 people include those either born in the village, those living in Wingello at time of enlistment and others who enlisted in the village.

Local resident David Broogermann believes it's an important gesture and says it will compliment the existing board for those who served in World War One.

It'll be unveiled at a special ceremony at the hall on September 21 at 2pm.
