The Southern Highlands Rural Fire Service is thanking local employers who've allowed their staff to take time off work to fight bush fires in northern NSW.
The fires have been burning for weeks now and yesterday the remains of a 77-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were found inside their home at Coongbar.
Volunteers from our shire have been on a rotational roster since early last month.
District Manager Martin Surrey says they're trying to help out where they can.
