The Southern Tablelands Rail Users Group have met with the Minister for Regional Transport's Office to hand over a lengthy submission regarding the situation with train services on the Southern Highlands line.
The group is questioning whether we're getting the right trains for NSW and is calling for a variation to the new diesel train contract to include tilt trains.
President Greg Price believes this is the only way to guarantee a reduction in journey times, given track upgrades could take decades.
He says they've also asked the Minister to trial a commuter service from Moss Vale to Canberra with a returning evening service.
Mr. Price believes this would improve job options for people in the Southern Highlands.
