Tobacco raid near Goulburn

NSW Police and the ATO have shut down an active tobacco operation in Goulburn worth more than $13 million dollars.

During a search warrant, Officers allegedly found four acres of tobacco crops, four bales of tobacco, a hothouse and three kilns on the site.

One kiln was turned on and in the process of drying tobacco leaf.

It's been illegal to grow tobacco in Australia for more than a decade and a maximum penalty of up to 10 years jail applies to people caught flouting the rules.
