Green Wattle & Morton Fires officially out

With the recent rain deluge the Rural Fire Service has declared both the Green Wattle Creek and Morton bushfires officially out.

The fire Green Wattle blaze started back in late November and burnt out almost 280,000 hectares.

Sadly two lives were lost including Andrew O'Dwyer and Geoffrey Keaton and a large number of homes were destroyed.

The fire impacted on a number of communities including the Wingecarribee, Wollondilly and Upper Lachlan areas.

The Morton fire originated from the Currowan Fire and crossed the Shoalhaven River

It caused a large amount of damage in the Wingello and Bundanoon areas.
