It was revealed at last night's Wingecarribee Council meeting, that more than $12.5 million dollars will be spent on Old South Road over the next two years, with the vast majority of that in the 2021/22 budget.
It comes after council received a grant of almost $5 million dollars from the State Government.
Council will pay the remaining amount.
The improvements will take place between Merrigang Street in Bowral and Aylmerton Road in Mittagong, including widening the road shoulder and installing a number of safety measures.
Mayor Duncan Gair says the road has gradually got worse over the years with the speed limit reduced to 80 kilometres per hour.
