Two men have been charged in connection with allegedly growing a $3.75 million dollar cannabis crop at Wingello.
Officers from the Hume Police District started an investigation last month and around 10am yesterday they executed a search warrant on a property on Marulan Street, where they found more than 1800 mature cannabis plants growing in three large greenhouses.
Police also uncovered a large drying room and sleeping quarters on the property.
The plants were removed and certified by an agronomist before being destroyed on site with the assistance of the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Two men – aged 37 and 53 – were arrested at the property and taken to Goulburn Police Station, and charged with large commercial cannabis cultivation.
They were refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.
Inquiries are continuing.
