Almost a kilo of pot discovered after Highlands driver allegedly fails roadside drug test

Southern Highlands Police have allegedly found 799 grams of cannabis after pulling over a car on Sheepwash Road at Avoca.

Officers made the discovery after the driver tested positive for methylamphetamine during a roadside drug test just before 5pm last Saturday.

The 42-year-old man was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands station where he allegedly tested positive to a secondary drug test.

He 's been  charged with drug possession ahead of an appearance in Moss Vale Local Court next month.

Police say they are still waiting on a final drug test result and a further charge of drug driving is pending.
