Rate increase included in operational budget

Rate payers in the Wingecarribee will be slugged with a 2.76 per cent increase this financial year after the operational budget was endorsed at this week's council meeting

Some key figures in the budget include $68.8 million to be spent on capital works projects across the Shire over the next 12 months.
and more than $24 million dollars on renewing roads, bridges and footpaths.

Also $9.9 million to be spent on improving community buildings, $11 million to be spent on improving the water supply network and $10.6 million on upgrading the Shire’s sewerage network.

Mayor Duncan Gair is urging anyone who's suffering hardship to contact council.

At the moment council is not charging interest on overdue rates.
