Tahmoor Colliery fined

Tahmoor Coal has been fined 15 grand by the Environmental Protection Agency after the Bargo River was polluted with clay from the operation.

The pollution was discovered by researchers in April after the the coal handling and preparation plant failed to remove a fine grained clay in its water treatment system.

The EPA says the pollution could be detected 5 kays downstream.

No dead or injured animals were found.
