Residents are being asked to sit down with their families and makesure they have a bushfire survival plan in place .
Anyone carrying out pile burning must also get a permit from the Rural Fire Service.
RFS Southern Highlands Inspector David Stimson has shared his thoughts on the upcoming Summer and believes there's a chance fires may pose a threat to our shire in January and February.
However he believes the fire season may prove more of a challenge for areas west of the Great Dividing Range.
This could mean many of our local crews will be called in for assistance.
