A near record number of development applications received by Wingecarribee Council over the past few months is further proof of the increasing number of people wanting to call the Southern Highlands home.
Between November 24 and January 22, council received 153 DA's.
Mayor Duncan Gair is confident council has the staff in place to deal with the extra workload.
And a total of 34 DA’s for bushfire affected properties have now been received
That includes 17 applications for new dwellings which amounts to more than $114,000 in fees being waived for bushfire impacted residents.
