The Southern Highlands Greens are calling on the Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock to provide us with certainty about when we can expect to elect a new council.
The announcement of a public inquiry means an election is unlikely for the remainder of 2021.
Lead Candidate Heather Champion said it's important that local democracy is restored.
“It’s now unclear how many months or even years Wingecarribee residents will be without a locally elected council to represent their interests.
This wouldn’t be tolerated at any other level of government – residents would demand to know the term of the Inquiry.”
“The people of the Wingecarribee have a right to know when we can expect an election to be held ” Ms. Champion said.
