Animal shelter & SES building to be built on same site

The Wingecarribee Animal Shelter will be co -located on the same site as the new Moss Vale SES building.

The site is situated at 2 Bowman Road in Moss Vale.

Wingecarribee Council’s Interim Administrator Mr Viv May made the announcement at yesterday's council meeting.

“Council’s existing Animal Shelter within the Resource Recovery Centre is well past its expiration date,” he said.

“It’s run down, too small, unsafe and unwelcoming.”

Mr May said the nearby Moss Vale SES building was similarly confined by its existing footprint.

“We have a duty of care to provide our first responders and volunteers with a new facility that’s both larger in size and more accessible if we expect to call on them in the future,” he added.

Proceeds from the Frankland Street sale in Mittagong are being used to fund the animal shelter.

Council is seeking other funding opportunities to fund the SES building.
