A Goulburn local has put her hand up to run as an independent in the Federal seat of Hume against Angus Taylor.

64 year old Penny Ackery is a school teacher and has lived in the area for 30 years.

She wants to see a number of issues addressed.

"Some of the things that have been coming out loud and clear, is that people want a federal ICAC established aswell as sustainable growth up and down the electorate,

"Also making sure small businesses are well supported,"Ms. Ackery said.

The 64 year old will face some stiff competition, with Angus Taylor increasing his margin to 63 per cent at the last election.
