Wingecarrribee Council's Interim Administrator has decided to scrap the opening prayer which use to take place at the start of council meetings.
This was carried out by a Minister from the Anglican Church.
Council received 120 submissions in response to a public exhibition.
68 per cent of respondents were against the inclusion of prayer and 32 per cent were in favour of keeping it.
Viv May addressed the issue at yesterday's council meeting and will be replacing it with a Statement of Ethical Obligations.
He's recommending that the incoming Councillors take it in turns to read the statement.
