NSW couple, grandson accused of CTP fraud

The grandson of a elderly couple caught up in an $11 million Sydney car insurance fraud investigation has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the syndicate.

The 24-year-old handed himself in on Thursday after his 72-year-old grandfather and 71-year-old grandmother were arrested by detectives at their Hinchinbrook home in Sydney's south west a day earlier.

Police allege the trio submitted fraudulent CTP insurance claims totalling $280,000 after a car crash in Hinchinbrook in April 2015.

They were granted conditional bail and are due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on July 18, each charged with one count of conspiring to cheat and defraud.

To date, Strike Force Ravens investigators have arrested 21 people and laid more than 160 charges in relation to a combined fraud of more than $11 million.

Investigations are ongoing and further arrests are expected.
