The Federal Labor Candidate for Gilmore says TAFE funding needs to be restored with latest 2016 Census data revealing a dramatic decline in the number of TAFE and other vocational education students in the region.
The 2011 census data says there were about 3100 students receiving vocational education training in the region, but that number dropped to just over 2400 in 2016.
The Ulladulla region as well as Berry and Kangaroo Valley appeared to be the hardest hit with a 41 per cent decline.
Labor Candidate Fiona Phillips says in response, a Shorten Labor Government would invest about $637 Million back into TAFE.
