Years of campaigning for Same-Sex Marriage have come to an end for Marriage Equality Gilmore with the House of Representatives passing legislation shortly before 6 pm last night.
Gilmore couples will be able to lodge their notice of intent to marry from this Saturday and will be able to get married from the 9th of January next year.
Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis who voted in favour has told Federal Parliament it's now time for all of us to come together.
"There's 38 percent of Australians who feel betrayed right now, who want to have that fixed, as in the same way that most of the audience felt betrayed before the vote", Ms Sudmalis said.
"We need to come together, we need to work together...but if we teach that difference is acceptable, we're actually pointing out that difference exists", she said.
"And in the game of equality, that's not your foundation stone".
