A safety trial on a bad stretch of Kiama road

Kiama council is trialling a new road safety initiative that it's hoped will reduce serious injury at a local accident black spot.

They've installed Raptor crash cushions on the stretch of road adjacent to the Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park, which has been the scene of  four crashes in five years.

The Raptor wraps around trees and poles and is designed to reduce the severity of collisions by absorbing the energy of the impact.
