The Lake Conjola community has received the news they've been waiting months to hear.
Shoalhaven Council has been given permission to open the lake to the sea.
It's been months of frustration and tears for those on the lake's shoreline who have had their yards and jetties submerged by the rising water and have been pushing hard to have the lake opened in a bid to reduce the water level.
Councillor PATRICIA WHITE says it's a huge relief "You know this is a great victory for the residents at Lake Conjola. You know I truly call them my heroes. They've put up with this for nine months, they haven't given up."
