Man and horse killed in South Coast crash

A man has died after the car he was travelling in collided with a horse on our south coast overnight.

Emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, near Moruya about 7.45 after reports of a crash.

It’s believed a Toyota Rav 4 was travelling north when a horse ran onto the road and was hit by the car.

The Toyota’s passenger, a 72-year-old man, was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

The driver, a 67-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation.

The horse was also killed.

Officers from South Coast Police District will conduct inquiries.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
