New South Wales Police will move to update the Senior Critical Incident checklist, after the death of a young Aboriginal man last year.

Jordan Cruickshank died in May 2018 during a police operation.

The 24-year-old was found unresponsive by officers in a Bomaderry backyard, following a short foot pursuit.

A coronial inquest investigating his death heard his mother never got to see her son’s body after he died.

Two recommendations have been made -

Police should advise the next of kin of their right to view the deceased’s body.....

As well as familiarising officers with Aboriginal community liaison personnel.
