A man will front court today after being charged following an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a young girl in the Illawarra.
Last month, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a young girl had been sexually abused by a man who was known to her.
Following inquiries, officers arrested a 30-year-old man at Wollongong Police Station on Wednesday May 6.
He was charged with two counts of intentionally sexually touch child (between 10 to 16 years) and indecent assault person under 16 years.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually abused the girl on three occasions between 2014 and 2019 while she was in his care.
The accused was released on strict conditional bail earlier this month and will appear in Nowra Local Court today.
