RFS crews from the Illawarra District will be assisting NPWS with a hazard reduction burn in Budderoo National Park today.
The burn is approximately 140ha in size and commenced this morning.
Cooler conditions tonight may result in a light smoke inversion over southern areas of the Illawarra, as shown in our smoke plume model above.
Then tomorrow Sunday April 18 RFS volunteers will be undertaking a small hazard reduction burn on the western side of the Princes Highway, south of Ulladulla in the vicinity of Canberra Crescent.
Forecast light southeasterly winds will help to keep smoke away from the Highway and neighbouring homes.
If weather conditions become unfavourable on the day, the hazard reduction burn will be postponed.
