Police seize homemade weapons after searching a vehicle in Nowra

Police have allegedly discovered a cache of homemade weapons during a car search at Nowra yesterday.

Officers pulled over a vehicle just after midday at the intersection of McDonalds Avenue and Albatross road.

They searched the 24-year-old driver and allegedly found a live round of ammunition and a spent cartridge.

They then searched the car and seized a homemade handgun, a homemade rifle, a homemade shotgun and a machete.

The driver and a 28-year-old passenger were both taken to Nowra Police station - the 24-year-old charged with firearms offences and was refused bail.

The other man was released pending further inquiries.
