Six in the Shoalhaven as district cases fall

There have been six new COVID cases in the Shoalhaven - four from the 2541 postcode and two in the 2540 area.

They were reported this morning as COVID-19 case numbers in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District again fell, with just 22 new infections detected in the 24 hours to 8pm on Wednesday.

That included nine in the Shellharbour local government area - two linked to known cases, and seven from Wollongong of which five were linked to known cases.

Kiama recoded no new cases for the tenth day in a row.

Across the state there were 406 new locally-acquired cases for the 24 hours, with six deaths among people with COVID-19.

One of those deaths was a woman in her 80s from the Wollongong area died at Wollongong Hospital.

She had received one dose of a vaccine and had underlying health conditions.

There have now been 2,184 local cases of COVID-19 in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District since the start of the current outbreak in June.

As at 8pm Wednesday, 13 October there were 33 COVID-19 patients being treated in the district's hospitals.
