COVID case numbers are continuing to fall, with just two detected in the Shoalhaven and seven throughout the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District during the 24 hours to 8pm Monday.

The two Shoalhaven cases are both from the 2540 postcode, and one was linked to a known case.

There was also one case from the Shellharbour Local Government Area, four from Wollongong and none in Kiama.

There have now been 2,376 local cases of COVID-19 in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District since the start of the current outbreak in June.

At 8pm on Monday there were 23 COVID-19 patients being treated in the health district's hospitals - and increase by two from the previous day's count of 21.

NSW Health has reported the COVID-related death of an unvaccinated man in his 80s at Wollongong Hospital.

He was the only COVID-related death in NSW for the day, although the daily figures included 282 new locally-acquired cases and two cases acquired overseas.
