The Shoalhaven's run of days with no new COVID cases has continued.

Figures released this morning showed there were only two new cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District in the 24 hours to 8pm Thursday - both in Wollongong and both linked to known cases.

The number of COVID patients being treated in the district's hospitals continues to fall, reaching five at 8pm on Thursday.

The 24 hours also brought the death of an unvaccinated Wollongong man aged in his 60s at Wollongong Hospital.

His was one of three COVID-related deaths in NSW during the 24 hours.

An unvaccinated man in his 50s from Sydney’s south-west and a man in his 80s from Albury, who had received one dose of a COVID vaccine, also died.

NSW recorded 216 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
