Another two COVID-related deaths in our district

There have been another two COVID-related deaths from the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

A woman in her 70s and a man in his 90s, both from Wollongong, died while battling COVID.

Both were vaccinated against the virus.

They're among eight deaths across the state in the 24 hours to 4pm yesterday.

Along with the two from Wollongong there were two people from Western Sydney, one from southern Sydney, one from Maitland, one from Newcastle and one from Coffs Harbour.

They bring the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,513.

There are currently 1,435 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 44 people in intensive care, 13 of whom require ventilation.

There were 1167 new COVID cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District reported in this morning's figures, including 328 from the Shoalhaven.

There were also 48 from Kiama, 242 from Shellharbour and 549 from Wollongong.

They were among  20,396 new cases across the state in the 24 hours to 4pm yesterday.
