New COVID cases fall below 800

The number of new COVID cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District has again fallen.

Just 764 cases were recorded in the 24 hours to 4pm yesterday.

That included 212 from the Shoalhaven, 22 from Kiama, 132 from Shellharbour and 398 from Wollongong.

Across the state there were three COVID-related deaths - two women and a man.

Two people were aged in their 70s, and one person was in their 90s.

One person was from Western Sydney, one person was from Taree, and one person was from Queanbeyan.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,534.

There are currently 1,568 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 62 people in intensive care, 22 of whom require ventilation.
