Dave “Stretto” Stretton, has been in radio since the mid 1980’s.
Radio for Stretto was a childhood dream but he tried his hand at a few other area’s before finally sitting down behind the microphone. A Westie from the suburbs around Parramatta in Sydney, Stretto’s first job was cutting linoleum to length at a local department store. Along the way he then worked for a travel agency and spent a few too many years in insurance before joining the regular army and serving in 5/7 RAR an infantry unit then based in Holsworthy, NSW.
Later he also worked in import finance and corporate lease finance with AGC. His first station was 4WK in Toowoomba, the pretty city as it was known and famous for its annual flower festival … not exactly Stretto’s preferred form of entertainment. From there Stretto has plied his trade in Tamworth, Sydney, Gold Coast, Bundaberg, Townsville and for the most part of his announcing career at both commercial radio stations in Wollongong.
The man just loves his sport. He has played rugby league, soccer and also played many years in the local rugby comp for the mighty Tech Tahs in Wollongong. Stretto’ was also the ground announcer / game day host for the Dragons for five years, courtside announcer for the Hawks in the NBL and back in the day was also ground announcer for the Wollongong Wolves in the NSL.
Stretto loves a laugh and is happy to share his humorous observations on the human condition at any time of the day (OK OK… yes... they are Dad jokes!) Information, great music, entertainment and above all tons of fun. It’s breakfast with The Stretto Show each morning Monday – Friday on 2ST.
