Screw you guys I’m going home!
Two weeks ago South Park debuted its opening episode for its 27th season with a verbal one-two punch to the newest Trump administration. The episode took aim primarily at the President himself by mocking the size of his genitals, depicting him in bed with satan, as well as giving the President the catchphrase “hey screw you I’ll sue you!”. But also, was controversially given the exact same voice as Sadam Hussein from when the show took aim at Hussein. The show even depicted Jesus himself descending to South Park to tell the town to stop protesting the President in fear of being “cancelled”, a meta commentary on the rumours that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was cancelled for making fun of Trump. The show finished with releasing a “Pro-Trump” advertisement that was created with the help of ai that depicted a fat and naked Trump wandering through the desert with the ending tag line “his p**** may be teeny-tiny, but his heart is large”
As you would expect, this didn’t sit well with the White House as they responded with a statement saying the show, South Park, was no longer relevant and was throwing cheap shots.
Well this seemed to have only spurred them on to go around for a second trip as last nights episode took aim at Trump again and some other members of his admin including Vice-President JD Vance and Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem. Whilst not part of the admin, the episode also takes a fair swing at right-wing media personality Charlie Kirk in which they frequently dub him as a “master debater”. Cartman, dressed as Kirk, is depicted debating children and studying young students even doing so whilst sat on the toilet, Cartman even claims “I debate unprepared students and edit out the ones that give good responses”. This entire plot line concludes with Cartman yelling at a room of Kirk fans saying “you stole my schtick”, highlighting that Kirk, in the eyes of the shows creators, is just a real life version of Eric Cartman. A character, which in the show, is hated by nearly everyone for being needlessly antagonistic and dimwitted.
Kristi Noem also took a large amount of criticism, as the show depicted the school counsellor Mr Mackey unemployed due to the government making him unnecessary and cutting school funding. So what does Mr Mackey do? Well he became a member of ICE of course. After viewing an ad which said individuals don’t need to have experience or be mentally sane to work for ICE, Mr Mackey signs the dotted line. Kristi Noem is featured many times, needing constant care for her face with botox as well as depicted shooting and killing dogs multiple times. She’s even seen raiding heaven, preventing any non-white individuals from entering whilst saying the slogan “if it’s brown it goes down”. Oh yeah, she also shoots Krypto the dog.
Finally, the episode concludes with Trump and Vance at Mar-a-Lago. Trump is depicted kicking the Vice-President, then the Vice-President offers to apply lotion to Satan when Trump joins Satan in bed. It also depicts several individuals who were arrested at raids earlier in the episode now working as servants to the islands attendees.
This new season of South Park will be something we look back on in maybe a decade and reflect with “what the actual hell was going on in the world”.
